LASIK Enhancements at Carter Eye Center in Dallas Texas
LASIK has an overwhelming success rate. Still, there are occasions where the procedure gives you unsatisfactory results or there is a LASIK complication that causes problems post-surgery. When this happens, it is possible to get a follow-up, or LASIK enhancement, procedure.
It is normal for vision to fluctuate in the weeks after your LASIK surgery. This does not mean that your LASIK did not "take" and that you need an enhancement procedure. However, if this continues, or you continue to feel discomfort and pain, tell your eye doctor. If your vision is still blurry several months after LASIK, you may need to undergo a LASIK enhancement.
During your LASIK enhancement, Dr Harver Carter in Dallas, uses tools that are specific to this kind of surgery. An excimer laser is used again to do any minor reshaping of the cornea that is needed. Vision is almost always restored after this LASIK enhancement to the patient’s satisfaction. Some patients may benefit from phakic IOLs or PRK rather than LASIK.
It is important for you to understand, and your eye doctor should tell you, before your LASIK surgery that you should have realistic expectations. Although 20/20 vision is what we strive for, it is not possible with every single LASIK patient. You may still need to wear glasses while driving or during other events.
If you believe you may need a LASIK enhancement, please contact the experienced LASIK surgeons at the Carter Eye Center in Dallas, Texas today.
