LASIK Misconceptions

LASIK will give me 20/20 eyesight.

Many patients believe that LASIK will offer them 20/20 eyesight, but in reality most patients who undergo Wavefront/CustomVue LASIK have better than 20/20 eyesight afterwards.

I will have some negative side effects with LASIK.

Not all LASIK patients experience complications. In fact, most patients do not experience any permanent side effects. While many patients may experience night vision halos or dry eyes, these symptoms usually dissipate after a few weeks or months, and the end result is 20/20 or better vision with no negative side effects.

LASIK is more expensive than wearing contacts or glasses.

While LASIK does require a sizeable initial financial investment, the overall cost of LASIK is much lower than the cost of glasses and contacts over a lifetime. The average patient spends as much as $750 a year on contacts, eye glasses, and eye exams. Over the course of a lifetime this adds up to multiple thousands of dollars more than the cost of laser eye surgery.

I have to pay for LASIK out of pocket.http://www.cartereyelasik.com/contact.html

While some individuals may choose to pay for LASIK with cash, many patients are able to use one of the following to help cover the cost of LASIK:
HSA
Financing
Monthly payment plan
